Trail No. 5 is the only route to the rim — short, moderate, and rated "Low" by the park. Here's what to expect.
The trail begins at the 1,000 m square. Each visitor is assigned a timed slot and accompanied by a guide from the Vesuvius Volcano Permanent Base as part of the entry system — but you hike at your own pace within your group, so no separate private guide is needed.
